So the news from this week's fun-filled pelvic exam is that my wife's cervix is 50% effaced and 1 centimeter dilated. When I heard the news my blood pressure went up 150% and my heart sank 8 centimeters. Then I remembered from elementary school that 1 centimeter is less than half an inch and I calmed down significantly.
My understanding is that this does not mean birth is imminent, only that things are moving forward as one would expect. Still, the clock is ticking...
Yep, she's a time bomb that you will start watching anxiously and ask at every. little. thing. if she's ok and steal sideways glances when she's not looking to make sure she isn't going to explode.
